Madpanda Motorsport has named two of the drivers that will represent the Mercedes-AMG squad during its 2022 Endurance Cup campaign.
Founded in 2020 by experienced international racer Ezequiel Perez Companc, the Barcelona-based outfit earned a commanding Silver Cup win at last year's TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa. It will remain in the class this term, with Sean Walkinshaw and Dušan Borković set to share the wheel of the #90 machine.
Walkinshaw is an experienced international racer who has recently focussed his attention on Japan's Super GT championship. Prior to this the Brit was a Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS regular between 2015 and 2019, earning a maiden overall podium at Brands Hatch during his debut season. What's more his late father, the legendary driver and team owner Tom Walkinshaw, was a two-time TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa winner.
Borković, meanwhile, makes the switch to GT racing following a successful spell in touring cars. The Serbian has competed internationally for several years and, among his achievements, was crowned European Touring Car Cup champion in 2015. Standing at 207cm (6 ft 9.4 inches), Borković also has a strong claim to being the tallest driver in world motorsport.
The third Madpanda pilot will be confirmed ahead of the season-opening event at Imola on 1-3 April. Ezequiel Perez Companc has handled driving duties during the team's first two years of competition, but the Argentine may step back from this role in 2022.
The squad will attend next week's official test days at Circuit Paul Ricard (7/8 March) ahead of the opening Endurance Cup event at Imola. This is followed by trips to Circuit Paul Ricard (3-5 June), the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa (28-31 July), Hockenheim (2-4 September) and a home event at Barcelona on 30 September-2 October.
