Alessandro Pier Guidi and Côme Ledogar completed an incredible hat-trick on Saturday afternoon when the Ferrari duo added the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli drivers' title to their list of honours.
Competing for AF Corse alongside Miguel Molina, they finished second overall in the Joburg Kyalami 9 Hour to wrap up the championship ahead of Audi Sport Team Sainteloc’s pairing of Patric Niederhauser and Markus Winkelhock.
The delayed Kyalami event therefore concluded a glittering 2021 season for Pier Guidi and Ledogar, who had already scored outright victory at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa and secured the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup drivers' title.
In both cases, they were joined by Nicklas Nielsen in an Iron Lynx-run car. The Danish driver was moved to a different crew at Kyalami as Ferrari sought to maximise its championship chances.
In an intriguing twist, Pier Guidi and Ledogar are now set to become rivals as the Frenchman has confirmed a switch to Porsche squad Dinamic Motorsport for 2022. As such they will fight for this year's TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa victory on separate teams.
The Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season kicks off at Imola on 1-3 April. The TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa test days are scheduled for 21-22 June, while the main event is set for 28-31 July.
