Motorbase Performance has revealed its full driver line up that will run under the Oman Racing Team banner, competing in the Blancpain Endurance Series this year, alongside a parallel campaign in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. Ahmad Al Harthy from Oman will be joined by Britons Michael Caine and Stephen Jelley.
Ahmad Al Harthy (driver): “Today is the day when all of the hard work from the last few months, from everyone involved in this hugely exciting project, has come to fruition – it’s amazing to be able to officially confirm the Oman Racing Team will be back in both the Blancpain Endurance Series and British GT Championship in 2014. Equally, we are thrilled to be working with Motorbase Performance.”
David Bartrum (Motorbase Performance Team Principal): “To make things a little bit more interesting we’ve decided this year, along with Ahmad, Michael and Stephen Jelley, to enter into the Blancpain Endurance Series. It’s an interesting phase for Motorbase and I’m really pleased to be doing it with Aston Martin and with a driver line up that I know very, very well. We’re in the Pro class and it’s going to be stiff competition, but Michael and Ahmad know each other very well and Stephen has slotted in very nicely with them so they make a really good trio. The early testing at Paul Ricard has been very positive. Michael has been exceptionally good in the car, a good strong team leader and has shown the other guys the way forward. I think that makes for a brilliant line up for our first season in the Blancpain Endurance Series.”
