In the wake of Hurricane Maria, which has severely hit Puerto Rico, all drivers entering the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup season finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya gathered at the front of the starting grid for a group picture. They got together to send their thoughts and show their support to the island during this ordeal and as a sign of encouragement for Felix Serralles (#88 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3), the first ever driver from Puerto Rico racing in our championship, who is grateful for the backing of his fellow drivers.
“I was racing at Nuerburgring so I did not know what was going on. And when I got back I could not reach my family. It was just terrible. Thankfully they are OK. Please spread the word and help as much as possible. My country is completely destroyed and a lot of people have died.” Serralles’ native land, which has a population of 3,4 Million people, is suffering the worst disaster in its history. Maria led to a total, island-wide power outage, and severe shortages of food, water, and other supplies.
