The first free practice session for the season finale of the 2016 Blancpain GT Series at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya proved to be troublesome for some of the drivers. Early in the session Dries Vanthoor parked the #4 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT in the tyre barriers at turn 4. The same corner saw some other cars spinning off, causing a red flag interruption at two occasions.
In the end it was Silver Cup driver Picariello who set the fastest time in 1’46.330, two tenths quicker than Vincent Abril in the #7 Team M-Sport Bentley. That same car ended up in the barriers at the end of the session. Fastest of the Pro-Am drivers was Giacomo Piccini in the #11 Kessel Racing Ferrari, while the #55 AF Corse Ferrari of new Am Cup winner Claudio Sdanewitsch and team-mate Stephane Lémeret topped the Am Cup timing sheets.
The second free practice session starts at 12.30 and will be streamed live on our Facebook-page, Blancpain GT Series.
