The second free practice of the Nürburgring round of the Blancpain GT Series gave a better insight on what we might expect for the upcoming race weekend. As was the case in the first free practice, the Audi R8 LMS performed well, but it was the #63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini of Mirko Bortolotti that topped the timesheets.
At the beginning of the session there were some slight drops of rain, but not enough to have an effect on the lap times. Laurens Vanthoor was quick to put the #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 on top, but he was soon bested by Mirko Bortolotti in the #63 Huracan. Those two cars remained in front for the remainder of the second free practice, but behind positions frequently. Franck Perera (#74 ISR Audi) was again among the frontrunners, but Will Stevens (#28 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8) and Davide Valsecchi - subbing for Jeroen Bleekemolen on the #16 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini - were up there as well. Eventually it was Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup standings leader Christopher Mies that put the #33 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 in third.
Saturday sees the Qualifying session (start at 9 am) and the Qualifying Race (2.30 pm), both will be covered with a livestream on our website.
