To say that the 2015 season of the Blancpain GT Series was an eventful one would be an understatement. Drivers and teams went to the limit in their efforts to score a good result, but in the heat of battle they sometimes went beyond those limits as well. This resulted in many a stewards' decision and in some cases those infringements of the rules were sanctioned by a fine. All monetary fines were paid to the SRO Motorsports Fund.
The SRO Motorsports Group has decided that the SRO Motorsports Fund will be donated to charity and three initiatives have been chosen. The Sean Edwards Foundation is one of them, for their relentless effort to improve safety for the drivers, among others by creating the Sean Edwards Test, mandatory for every single driver in the Blancpain GT Series.
C.A.D.R.E. (Centre d’Aide au Développement et Recherche d’Emancipation) is the second initiative SRO Motorsports Group wishes to support. C.A.D.R.E. is a Belgian organisation that creates educational farms for young adults with disabilities, and its volunteers also had a helping hand in the shuttle service of last year's Total 24 Hours of Spa.
Finally, SRO also wishes to support the Belgian Foundation against Cancer. The Foundation supports research, helps cancer patients and their relatives, encourages everyone to adopt a healthy lifestyle and calls for a better public health policy. The organisation also received the support of the 'Racing Against Cancer' BMW, which took part in the 2015 Total 24 Hours of Spa.
SRO Motorsports Group and these organisations all wish to thank the drivers and teams who went beyond their limits during the 2015 season. At least you know that the fines you paid will serve a good cause.
