The season finale of the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series is upon us next weekend, with the iRacing.com GT500. In our last instalment of interviews with the title candidates, we speak with one of the leaders of the Pro rankings, 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series champion Stéphane Ortelli, who will share the #2 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT car with fellow title candidate Frank Stippler and countryman Stéphane Richelmi.
“Being in a position to win the championship with Frank before the start of the last race is good thing to start with, because that means we've been doing a strong year so far”, says Ortelli. “Obviously, we lost lot of points with the DNF at Paul Ricard, when we had to retire with only 11 minutes to go. When I won the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series title, I was already driving for WRT, with two German drivers as my team-mates. So that’s a good sign. Stippi has had so many good results at his home race.”
“We all know how big the competition in the Blancpain Endurance Series is and so many teams can still win the title. The best thing is not to think about it, but to do our race - like we have been doing since Monza - and try to stay strong at Audi’s home race as well.
Our strongest asset is of course the Belgian Audi Club WRT team and we truly believe that will count in every aspect of the race, whether it’s wet or dry.”
