Barwell Motorsport has announced that the BMW Z4 GT3 it runs under the ‘Team Russia by Barwell’ banner will be entering the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2015, contesting the Pro-Am Class. Leo Machitski, Timur Sardarov and Jonny Cocker will be at the wheel.
The Team Russia by Barwell car will contest the full Blancpain Endurance Season, with Machitski, Sardarov and Cocker contesting the three-hour races at Monza, Silverstone and Nürburgring, plus the 1000 kms event at Paul Ricard. The team’s final plans for the Total 24 Hours of Spa will be confirmed at a later date.
Whilst Sardarov and Cocker will be making their Blancpain Endurance Series debuts, Machitski enjoyed a successful one-off in 2014, when he claimed the runner-up spot in the Gentlemen’s Trophy class at the Total 24 Hours of Spa, having previously also finished on the GT2 podium in 2007.
Mark Lemmer (Barwell Motorsport Team Principal): “I am delighted that we will be doubling our attack on the BES Pro-Am title, with the addition of the TRBB BMW Z4 GT3. Leo & Jonny are already stars at this level, and Timur is really developing well as one of the most promising new Gentleman drivers of the GT3 scene!”
Leo Machitski (Team Russia by Barwell driver): “I’m extremely excited to be back driving with Jonny and Timur for Team Russia by Barwell. I feel the prospects for this season are extremely positive. The continuation with Barwell Motorsport and BMW hopefully will result in a season of competition never to forget.”
