The 2025 GT World Challenge powered by AWS season will conclude this weekend with a three-hour Endurance Cup race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Here are five reasons to join us at the track for what promises to be an epic finale.
THE 10TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL DE LA VELOCIDAD
This will be the 10th year in succession that GT World Challenge has raced at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as part of the Festival de Velocidad (Festival of Speed). The entry list is expected to feature a record 60 cars, topping the previous high of 54 which was set in 2023. The same 10 brands that have competed throughout 2025 will be represented, with machinery from Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche set to do battle.
It continues a theme seen throughout 2025, not least at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, which drew a record 75-car entry for its 77th edition. In fact, the current campaign has seen the biggest average grid since the Endurance Cup was launched in 2011. Watching this enormous field charging into the opening corner is surely worth the trip.
TITLES TO BE SETTLED
The Endurance Cup began six months ago at Circuit Paul Ricard before moving on to Monza, the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and the Nürburgring. As we head to Barcelona, the fight has come down to three heavyweight teams - but only one can leave with the title.
Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter holds the advantage with its all-star trio of Engel/Auer/Cairoli. Their closest challenge comes from Porsche, with Niederhauser/Müller/Picariello at Rutronik Racing, while BMW is also in the hunt thanks to Team WRT and its crew of Weerts/Van der Linde/De Wilde. These are three of the most successful teams in GT racing and all feature world-class drivers – so you can expect to see an epic fight.
There is also everything to play for in three highly competitive classes. Verstappen.com Racing (Aston Martin) has a strong chance of wrapping up the Gold Cup, while Century Motorsport (BMW) is out front in Silver and Kessel Racing (Ferrari) is on the cusp of Bronze glory. As ever in GT World Challenge, you expect plenty of twists and turns before the trophies are handed out.
A WEALTH OF FAN ACTIVITIES
In addition to the on-track action, there will be plenty more for fans to see and do at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The annual ‘Ultracars & Legends’ display will give the public a chance to take a look at some incredible machines. With futuristic designs and mind-blowing horsepower, they are sure to turn heads in the paddock and when they run laps on Saturday evening.
While the cars are making a noise on the track, a pit walk (beginning at 18:40) will allow fans to take a stroll down the pit lane and watch as the teams undertake pit stop practice. There will also be an autograph session in the paddock at 11:30 on Sunday.
Tickets for the event start at 25€ per day for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while a complete three-day pass costs 55€. All tickets include paddock and grandstand access, as well as free parking. Children aged 12 and under can attend for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
SUPPORT SERIES ACTION
In terms of on-track support action, there's plenty to look forward to during the Barcelona weekend. The GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club wraps up its 2025 season with a pair of races. The Pro-Am and Am titles remain up for grabs, while the full field of around 40 crews will be hungry to end the campaign in style.
The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli is also gearing up for its final outing of the year. It will conclude its fifth season with a second successive visit to Barcelona and is set to welcome a new brand to the grid. Finally, Lamborghini Super Trofeo stages its penultimate event of 2025 and its fifth alongside GT World Challenge. Between them, they will run six races across Saturday and Sunday, treating fans to plenty of high-octane action.
BARCELONA
We really couldn't finish without talking about the city itself. But in truth, little needs to be said about Barcelona: its blend of rich cultural heritage and tremendous modern appeal are already well known to the world. From the city centre to the track takes roughly 30 minutes by car, so it's within easy reach. And whether it's stunning architecture, world-class food or bustling nightlife, the city has everything. At this time of year the weather is cooler without feeling too cold and there's a perfect hint of autumn in the air.
In short, it's the ideal place to conclude the 2025 season. And it won’t be the last: GT World Challenge has already confirmed plans to return to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 2–4 October 2026.
