PRE-QUALIFYING: AF Corse on top after early stoppage

Antonio Fuoco led the way in a truncated Pre-Qualifying session at the Nürburgring.

The #50 AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors Ferrari was quickest when a red flag was shown after 20 minutes due to the surface breaking up in sector three. As it was not possible to carry out the necessary repairs in time, the session was cancelled.

Fuoco was the only driver to break the 1m55s barrier, posting a 1m54.959s to beat Augusto Farfus (#98 ROWE Racing BMW) by 0.149s and Lucas Auer (#48 Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter) by 0.198s. Al Faisal Al Zubair was fourth overall in the #777 AlManar Racing by WRT BMW, putting the Omani driver on top of the Gold Cup class.

Kobe Pauwels sent the #21 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin to the head of the Silver Cup order. The Belgian was seventh overall, four tenths adrift of Fuoco. His fellow countryman Gilles Magnus was the best of the Bronze Cup runners, placing 13th overall in the #25 Saintéloc Racing Audi.

The track repairs have caused a delay of approximately half an hour, with further sessions scheduled for McLaren Trophy Europe and the GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club. The GT World Challenge pit walk and pit stop practice scheduled for 18:30 local time is also likely to be delayed.

Qualifying is scheduled for 09:00 CEST on Sunday morning, followed by a three-hour Endurance Cup race at 15:00. All of the action will air live on the GT World YouTube channel.
