Pittard puts Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin on top at Barcelona

Comtoyou Racing leapt to the top of the times in this afternoon's Pre-Qualifying session at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. David Pittard posted a 1m41.680s aboard the #21 Aston Martin, ensuring a considerable leap up the order after the car placed 19th in this morning's Free Practice.

Maro Engel was second quickest for Winward Racing Team Mann Filter. The #48 Mercedes-AMG was 0.015s shy of Pittard's benchmark, an encouraging result for the German squad as it seeks to claim the Sprint Cup title this weekend.

Outgoing champion Ricardo Feller was third in the #99 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi, followed by Maximilian Götz in the #9 Boutsen VDS Mercedes-AMG, which had been quickest in Free Practice. Tom Gamble completed the top five in the #159 Garage 59 McLaren.

Max Hofer was sixth quickest overall and second in the Gold Cup class behind the #21 Aston Martin. The #6 Liqui-Moly Team Engstler by OneGroup Audi was 0.255s shy of top spot and nine places clear of his next class rival.

AF Corse placed ninth overall with its #71 Ferrari. Eliseo Donno set the time for the Italian squad, which has a long shot at securing the Silver Cup crown this weekend. Patrick Kujala was 10th and led the Bronze Cup aboard the #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini.

The session was stopped with just moments left on the clock when the #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini came to a halt at Turn 5. All 32 cars set a time, with less than second covering the top 22. Comtoyou Racing bookened the order, with the #11 Aston Martin placing last overall.
