Rutronik Racing loses Magny-Cours Race 1 win following penalty for unsafe release

The #96 Rutronik Racing Porsche has received a five-second penalty for an unsafe release during Saturday night's Sprint Cup race at Magny-Cours.

The car took the chequered flag in first place, but drops to third in the final classification. The team was adjudged to have released the #96 into the path of the #71 AF Corse Ferrari during its mid-race pit stop. Click here to read the stewards' decision

As a result of the penalty, the #32 Team WRT BMW of Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts moves up to first position, followed by the #48 Winward Racing Team Mann-Filter Mercedes-AMG.

The #96 Porsche is classified third, with all other positions unaffected. The weekend's second Fanatec GT Europe Sprint Cup race gets underway 14:45 CEST and can be watched live on the GT World YouTube channel
