Lamborghini squad VSR has confirmed the drivers for its assault on this season's Fanatec GT Sprint Cup.
Led by former single-seater ace Vincenzo Sospiri, the Forlì-based team joined the Endurance grid in 2022 and will now turn its attentions to the short-format series, continuing its alliance with Lamborghini.
The team’s Pro entry will be driven by Lamborghini Squadra Corse factory drivers Jordan Pepper and Franck Perera, the former making his Fanatec GT Sprint Cup debut and the latter resuming a successful career in the series. This car will compete as #60, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini's creation.
A pair of Silver Cup cars will bolster the VSR line-up. One will be driven by the vastly experienced Rolf Ineichen and Japanese racer Yuki Nemoto, who claimed the 2022 Italian GT Endurance title and was recently confirmed as a Lamborghini Young Professional.
The third VSR machine will see young Belgian Baptiste Moulin, who earned the 2022 Italian GT Endurance Pro-Am crown, compete alongside Norwegian racer Marcus Paverud. Along with Nemoto, both of these drivers were part of VSR's 2022 programme.
"I really want to thank Giorgio Sanna and the Lamborghini Squadra Corse family for allowing us to take the next step in our long and fruitful relationship," said team boss Vincenzo Sospiri.
"We are all thrilled to have Jordan, Franck and Rolf with us this year and very happy to welcome back our drivers Yuki, Baptiste and Marcus. Fanatec GT Europe is the most competitive GT championship there is and I’m very proud to have my cars on the grid with the support of Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
Giorgio Sanna added: "In Lamborghini Squadra Corse we are very excited to race again in the Fanatec GT Sprint Cup with our representative team VSR that, in the last few years, has contributed in the growth of our best GT3 junior drivers. We are glad to support the team with Franck and Jordan who will race with the number 60 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our company in 2023!"
