Five reasons to come to Imola

Five reasons to come to Imola

The 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season kicks off with a three-hour Endurance Cup race at Imola on 1-3 April. Still wondering whether to attend? We've come up with five reasons to book your tickets and join the party at this historic Italian circuit.

THE BIGGEST SHOW IN TOWN

With 52 cars representing nine legendary brands Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS is the biggest show in town. Iconic Italian manufacturers Ferrari and Lamborghini go up against German heavyweights Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche, as well as British supercar firms Aston Martin, Bentley and McLaren. The sight, the sound, even the smell is something that must be experienced in person.

NON-STOP ACTION

If that wasn't enough, support race action from three high-level GT series should keep fans at the track entertained from start to finish. Lamborghini Super Trofeo sees a packed grid of identical Huracán supercars going wheel-to-wheel, while the Fanatec GT2 European Series and GT4 European Series both feature mixed machinery that make a big noise. With a total of six races between them, they provide the perfect warm-up for the headline act.

THE COMING OF ROSSI

Valentino Rossi is one of the biggest names in all of sport, let alone motor racing. At Imola, the nine-time motorcycle grand prix world champion will launch his new career in GT racing, driving an Audi for Team WRT. The chance to see this Italian superstar debut in front of his adoring fans is not to be missed and it would be no surprise to see him vying for a place on the podium.

A CIRCUIT STEEPED IN HISTORY

Imola is steeped in motorsport history. It has been the scene of legendary battles, incredible victories and great tragedy. The corner names – Rivazza, Tamburello and Piratella – are evocative, while it's location within a town is almost unique in the sport. Visiting fans must make the pilgrimage to the Ayrton Senna memorial, located in the park that surrounds the circuit, and should also take in the mural of the great Brazilian driver that is painted on the side of the pit building.

AN ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR GT FANS

If you love GT cars this is a must-attend. All three days feature track activity from 09:00 until at least 18:00, while the event also includes the Fanatec Esports GT Pro Series inside the paddock. Single-day tickets range from €10 to €20, while a weekend ticket – which will ensure you see every moment of the racing action – comes in at just €35. There are VIP options, too, should you wish to experience the event from the heart of the paddock. With the added excitement of the season getting underway, it promises to be a fantastic weekend at the track.
