Lamborghini has named its roster of factory drivers for the 2021 season, which includes the return of Mirko Bortolotti and a spot for rising star Sandy Mitchell.
Bortolotti returns to the Italian marque following a one-year stint with rival brand Audi, which included a race-winning GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup programme. The 30-year-old previously enjoyed significant success as a Lamborghini driver between 2015 and 2019, capturing the Endurance Cup and combined titles with Grasser Racing in 2017.
20-year-old Mitchell has been promoted to full factory status following three highly impressive seasons in Lamborghini machinery with Barwell Motorsport. During this period the Scotsman took a pair of Total 24 Hours of Spa class wins (2019 & 2020) and clinched this year's British GT title alongside Rob Collard.
Lamborghini's remaining six factory drivers all continue longstanding relationships with the brand. FFF Racing pairing Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli have been retained, as have Emil Frey Racing duo Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoe. The experienced Franck Perera and Giovanni Venturini complete the Squadra Corsa line-up.
Teams and programmes are unconfirmed, though all are likely to play some role in the 2021 GT World Challenge Europe season or at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
