Italian team Villorba Corse is set to make its debut in the GT3 world with a brand new racing programme in the 2014 Blancpain GT Series. The Italian squad led by Raimondo Amadio will enter a Ferrari 458 Italia in the Pro-Am category of the Blancpain Endurance Series and will also participate in the Blancpain Sprint Series with the same machinery.
Villorba Corse ‘racing with Ferrari’ team is an experienced racing team from the Italian city of Treviso, eager to extend its list of successes by participating in the Blancpain GT Series. For the Blancpain Endurance Series their Ferrari 458 Italia will be entered in the Pro-Am category and will be driven by three Italian youngsters: Francesco Castellacci, Stefano Gai and Andrea Rizzoli.
In the Blancpain Sprint Series yet another former Formula 1-driver adds his name to the entry list. 49-year-old Italian Andrea Montermini will share the sole Ferrari of the Blancpain Sprint Series with the young Czech driver Filip Salaquarda, a former race winner in the FIA GT1 World Championship.
Raimondo Amadio (Team Principal): “Our entry into the GT3 world is the proper continuation of our work. We are honoured to be able to do it with Ferrari and to compete in one of the most important international championships. It will be a busy season, but we have a very well matched crew of drivers. We are ready and we are going to push hard.”
Andrea Montermini (driver): ‘Our season will be very intense, but the high level of the Blancpain Sprint Series gives us even more motivation. Considering that there are several former F1-drivers on the grid, we expect the season to be very challenging. To represent the Ferrari brand in such a prestigious series makes us proud.”
