Formula 1 ace Charles Leclerc has joined a star-studded Pro grid for today's opening SRO E-Sport GT Series race at Silverstone.
The Ferrari driver will run a specially-liveried version of the Italian brand's 488 GT3 in the one-hour contest, which kicks off a five-round virtual championship using Assetto Corsa Competizione. Competing as a wildcard entrant, Leclerc will go up against the likes of Jenson Button, Raffaele Marciello and Andy Soucek as part of a stacked Pro field.
Organised in collaboration with Kunos Simulazioni and Ak Informatica, the new SRO E-Sport GT Series features classes for real-world drivers (Pro), leading sim racers (Silver) and public qualifiers (Am). Following this weekend's Silverstone opener there will be events at Spa-Francorchamps (10 May), the Nürburgring (17 May), Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (31 May), and a track to be decided by public vote (14 June). A grand finale featuring the star performers from each class will conclude the championship, with this venue also chosen by fans.
The action begins with Pro and Silver Series races today (26 April) from 13.45 CET. Each will enjoy full coverage across a range of channels, including the GT World YouTube and Dailymotion accounts and the SRO Motorsports Twitch and Facebook pages.
