Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe championship leaders Black Falcon hit the front in second practice at Zandvoort, with Maro Engel posting the best lap aboard his #4 Mercedes-AMG.
The German ace recorded a time of 1m45.230s to edge out the #63 Grasser Racing Lamborghini driven by Mirko Bortolotti, while the #62 R-Motorsport Aston Martin was third in the hands of Aaro Vainio. The Finn also set the Silver Cup benchmark in the car he shares with Hugo de Sadeleer.
Phil Keen (#519 Orange1 FFF Racing Lamborghini) put his championship-leading Pro-Am machine ahead of its pursuers, though the #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG and #52 AF Corse Ferrari were close behind in FP2. HB Racing's lone Am Cup car was within 0.046s of the pack, with Florian Scholze at the wheel of the #444 Ferrari when the time was set.
The session was held on a wet circuit as showers continued to hit Zandvoort during the late morning and early afternoon. The rain did ease off, however, which led to a number of drivers posting improved laps later on. The current forecast for Saturday and Sunday suggests that it will be a dry weekend at the Dutch venue.
With practice complete attention now turns to Saturday, though with variable conditions in both of today's sessions a competitive order is yet to be established. As such, the morning's qualifying session promises to be even more unpredictable than usual.
All of Saturday's action will be streamed live on the Blancpain GT Series website and across the championship's social media channels.
