The #74 Ram Racing Mercedes-AMG that took Pro-Am victory in yesterday's Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup round at Silverstone has received a post-race time penalty, dropping it to third in class and promoting the #52 AF Corse Ferrari to P1.
The #74 Mercedes-AMG was adjudged to have caused a collision with the #52 Ferrari at The Loop shortly before the two-hour mark, tipping the AF Corse car into a spin and leaving it with damage. Remon Vos was driving the Ram Racing entry when the incident occurred, before Tom Onslow-Cole took over for the final stint.
Following the race, the stewards of the meeting ruled that the #74 car should be subject to a drive-through, which has been converted to a 30-second penalty.
This promotes the #52 Ferrari of Niek Hommerson, Louis Machiels and Andrea Bertolini up one spot to become the class winner. The #97 Oman Racing by TF Sport Aston Martin also moves up a place into second, while the #74 Mercedes-AMG drops to third in the revised classification.
The #43 Strakka Racing Mercedes-AMG was also adjudged to have been at fault for its collision with the #563 FFF Racing Lamborghini. As the #43 car lost places due the incident, the stewards have elected to issue a reprimand and one behaviour warning point to driver Jack Hawksworth. The #43 car therefore retains its fifth-place finish.
