It was with great sadness that SRO Motorsports Group learned of the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the life of former Blancpain GT Series driver Alessandro Bonacini.
The Italian was a regular Pro-Am front-runner aboard Ferrari machinery between 2012 and 2016. Driving for the Kessel Racing squad, he was a multiple class winner whose successes included a home triumph at Monza in 2016 on route to the Endurance Cup championship. Alessandro competed in a wide variety of other GT categories, including a race-winning spell in the GT4 European Series.
He was the only person aboard the helicopter when it crashed. His death at the age of 38 represents a terrible loss to his family, including his wife and two children, to whom SRO wishes to convey its deepest sympathies. Alessandro will be keenly missed by his friends and colleagues in the racing community.
