KÜS TEAM75 Bernhard has confirmed an impressive trio of Porsche factory drivers for its assault on this year’s Total 24 Hours of Spa.
The German squad is set to contest the blue riband event for the second time, having shown considerable promise on its Spa debut in 2017. Laurens Vanthoor, Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen handled the #117 Porsche 911 GT3 R that day, finishing an excellent fourth overall.
Vanthoor is the only member of the trio to return this time around. The Belgian ace already has a Spa victory to his name, having triumphed for the WRT-Audi squad in 2014, and will be targeting another major honour with Porsche.
Team boss Timo Bernhard will join the roster for the 2018 event and adds vast experience from a wide variety of international sports car races.
Indeed, Bernhard has already won 24-hour contests at Le Mans, Daytona and the Nürburgring and will now look to add Spa to that impressive list. The German ace last competed at the event in 2013, driving a Porsche 997 GT3 R for the Pro GT by Almeras squad.
The line-up is completed by Earl Bamber, who has also clinched a number of major international race victories during his time with Porsche. The Kiwi will make his debut in the Total 24 Hours of Spa this year, as well as his first appearance in the Blancpain GT Series.
Porsche will have a second car competing for overall victory at Spa, with the full-season Manthey Racing crew of Romain Dumas, Fred Makowiecki and Dirk Werner also set to tackle the twice-around-the-clock event.
The Bernhard-Porsche trio join an exciting list of one-off additions to the 2018 Total 24 Hours of Spa field, which also includes the likes of Rubens Barrichello, Rene Rast and Marcel Fassler.
