The #72 SMP Racing Ferrari topped this afternoon’s pre-qualifying session at Monza to complete a Saturday sweep for the Italian marque.
Russian ace Mikhail Aleshin lapped the Italian circuit in 1m48.961s as competitors got their final running before qualifying tomorrow morning, followed by a three-hour race that opens the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.
The Ferrari was followed by another Italian machine, with the #78 Lamborghini of Barwell Motorsport setting a 1m49.282s to also top the Silver Cup standings. One of Barwell’s Silver Cup rivals – the #58 Jaguar of Emil Frey Racing – took third overall and second in class.
The Pro-Am class was led by the #11 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Alessandro Pier Guidi. Having topped the earlier session in the car he shares with Michael Broniszewski, the Italian once again headed Pro-Am with a lap of 1m49.608s.
The Am Cup category was topped by another Barwell Motorsport car, with the British effort’s #77 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 emerging quickest. Full times can be viewed here.
The session was free of red flags, with only a short full course yellow – caused by a spinning R-Motorsport Aston Martin – interrupting the action. Qualifying takes place tomorrow at 09.45, with the main event beginning at 15.00. All of the weekend's on-track activity will be streamed live on the Blancpain GT Series website.
