Porsche has paid tribute to the worldwide achievements of teams and drivers during the 2017 season at its “Night of Champions” motorsport gala in Weissach. On this occasion, the details of its worldwide GT3 programme were announced.
Manthey Racing will take on the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. The works driver trio Dirk Werner, Romain Dumas and Frédéric Makowiecki will share the cockpit of a 911 GT3 R and contest all 5 races which include the Total 24 Hours of Spa in the Pro-class. The same trio will also form the line-up for the Intercontinental GT Challenge program.
This year the Herbert Motorsport Porsche took part in the entire Endurance Cup. Team 75 Bernhard had a one-off entry in the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
As revealed by Sportscar365 last month, the German manufacturer had been closing in on an expansion to the Blancpain GT Series, thanks to its increased focus on GT racing. Head of Porsche Motorsport Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser believes a factory-backed entry will help bring additional customers into the series.
