The second free practice session for the final round of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup again saw Audi cars dominating the top of the standings. The #5 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 of Dries Vanthoor – yes, him again – proved to be quickest. He was the first driver to break the 1’55 barrier with a 1’54.708 lap. Vanthoor was marginally quicker than his team-mate Robin Frijns in the #17 Team WRT Audi, with Rob Bell in the #59 Strakka Racing McLaren in third.
The main title contenders, Buhk-Perera in the #84 Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport car and Bortolotti-Engelhart in the #63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini, had a torrid afternoon. Both pairings had to park their car before the end of the session, with a puncture for the Lamborghini causing an early end to the session.
Fastest of the Silver Cup cars was the #85 HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG of freshly crowned champions Fabian Schiller and Jules Szymkowiak, with Daniel Keilwitz putting his #333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari on top in the Pro-Am Cup and fourth overall.
Tomorrow sees the qualifying session at 9.40 CEST, with the Qualifying Race getting underway at 14.00 CEST. Both will be streamed live on the official website www.blancpain-gt-series.com.
