Cloudy, but dry conditions greeted teams and drivers for the first free practice session of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup meeting at the short version Nürburgring Grand Prix track. As usual the first forty minutes of the session were reserved for the Bronze and Silver drivers of the championship and some of those youngsters lapped the German track quicker than their more experienced colleagues who joined for the second half of the session.
Dries Vanthoor's 1'27.448 (#4 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8) was the quickest of them all, from team-mate Stuart Leonard in the #2 Audi in 1'28.019. Leonard was also the quickest of the Silver cup drivers. In third overall was the #74 ISR Audi of Franck Perera, a mere four hundredths of second slower than Leonard. Fastest of the Pro-Am cars was the #11 Kessel Racing Ferrari, the #55 AF Corse Ferrari was quickest in the Am Cup.
The second free practice session starts at 13.50, and is live on our website.
