The first free practice session for the season finale of the Blancpain Sprint Series saw the teams and drivers primarily focussing on set-up work. Maxi Buhk (#84 Bentley Team HTP) proved to be quickest around Zandvoort, with a lap set in the opening part of the session. The German was over eight tenths of a second quicker than Series leader Robin Frijns, who in turn was two tenths faster than Belgian Frederic Vervisch, making his debut at the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT.
Jules Szymkowiak was the fastest of the Silver Cup drivers, at the wheel of the #83 Bentley Team HTP. For most of the session Szymkowiak was in fourth overall, but dropped a spot when Markus Winkelhock set his fastest lap time and climbed to fourth in the #6 Phoenix Audi.
The second free practice session starts at 16.30.
