In pretty damp conditions the first free practice at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli saw a flurry of improvements, due to a drying track. Eventually it was series leader Robin Frijns (#1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8) who set the fastest time in 1'46.517, with team-mate Stéphane Ortelli only a quarter of second behind. For a while it looked like the Belgian Audi squad would lock out the top-3, but a few minutes from the end of the session Norbert Siedler squeezed the #333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari into third.
The Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini's, new to the Series, ended up in fourth and fifteenth. The fastest time in the Pro-Am Cup went to the #70 GT Russian Mercedes of Marko Asmer, while Jules Szymkowiak in the #83 Bentley Team HTP was quickest in the Silver Cup.
