The early laps of the first Free Practice session had the #75 ISR Racing Team Audi R8 LMS Ultra of Frederic Vervisch leading the way, from Marcus Winkelhock’s #6 Belgian Audi Club WRT R8 and Mirko Bortolotti in the #63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
On the half-hour, five minutes were lost after a small departure from the track for Stuart Leonard in the #32 Leonard Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 that brought out a red flag to allow for recovery from the barrier.
After an hour the#75 ISR Audi still held P1 ahead of the #63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini, which was followed by the first of the Pro-Am entries the #51 AF Corse Ferrari of Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron, the pairing that wrapped up the Pro-Am Endurance Drivers’ Championship last time out with a second place finish at Spa.
With thirty minutes to go the #7 Bentley Continental GT3, with Steven Kane behind the wheel, put in a 1:55.701 lap to lead the field by half a second. That was until Dominik Schwager closed to 0.149s shortly afterward in the Pro-Am #66 Black Pearl Racing by Rinaldi Ferrari 458 Italia; the same car that had formed the second half of an all Rinaldi Racing Monza front row at the beginning of the season.
The #34 Car Collection Motorsport Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 suffered a huge blowout on the back straight, strewing debris everywhere, but they made it back to the pits safely. A spin for Rob Bell in the #58 Von Ryan Racing McLaren 650S GT3 brought out a Red Flag ending the session a minute early.
Free Practice Two begins at 16:15 CET.
