#Spa24h Race Updates – Part 4

≠≠ Bortolotti is up to speed but he's having to cut through traffic. The Porsche is just a few seconds back but it too needs to clear these cars. Just over an hour to go.

≠≠ Bortolotti stops – but is he running slowly? The Lamborghini is passed by the #48 Mercedes-AMG, which was a lap down, as they run down Kemmel. He seems to be back up to speed, but that was a worrying moment.

≠≠ Lead change with 1h46 remaining! Bortolotti pretty much just drives past the Porsche on the run to the Bus Stop. There's no hiding from it now: this race is Lamborghini's to lose.

≠≠ The #96 Porsche re-takes the lead and holds a five-second advantage the #63 Lamborghini. Mirko Bortolotti needs only a few laps to erase that deficit, but he's now sitting 0.5s behind Sven Müller. Are Grasser  biding their time until the pit stops.

≠≠ As it stands, the race is between the #96 Porsche and the #63 Lamborghini. There's five seconds between them with two stops left to make. The stretegies are offset, but it's building towards a showdown between these two.

≠≠ The #33 Aston Martin goes back to the lead in a brilliant battle for the Gold Cup win. Both had just stopped, and Harry King got a run on Adam Smalley on the Kemmel Straight. This has been the pick of the class battles.

≠≠ Here are your class leaders. We have just three hours to run at Spa-Francorchamps.

≠≠ The #63 Lamborghini is reeling in the #96 Porsche. A lead of 14 seconds has become 7 seconds over the past half hour or so. Grasser could win this one on pure pace, whether or not the Porsche has pulled a strategy coup.

≠≠ An FCY to recover the stricken #15 BMW may just have changed things. The #96 Porsche pitted before the FCY was declared, which has saved it some time. That could be enough to vault the car ahead of the long-time leader, which is of course the #63 Lamborghini.

≠≠ A change for the Gold Cup lead. Schandorff takes advantage of traffic to pass Vermeulen, so it's now advantage McLaren over Aston Martin. They actually made contact earlier in the lap with a slight touch at La Source.

≠≠ Again, the Gold Cup leaders stop together. MacDonald takes over from Schandorff in the #58 McLaren, while Vermeulen remains in the #33 Aston Martin. We're now at the top of the 21st hour. A shade over four hours remain.

≠≠ Lovely move from Lorens Lecertua to take P2 in Silver. Taking advantage of traffic, he makes the pass on the outside at Les Combes. But they change back! The #65 Ford of Finn Wiebelhaus takes the place back at the Bus Stop, only for Lecertua to pass him AGAIN at Les Combes. Great racing.

≠≠ The gap at the front is about 25 seconds, roughly what it was before the last round of stops. We're a little over four hours from the finish,

≠≠ The leader stops. Jordan Pepper is now at the wheel of the #63 Lamborghini, which was perhaps a second shy of the optimum pit time. That car led by more than 20 seconds, so no drama there. The second-place #98 BMW also stops and should hold its position.

≠≠ A change for the Gold Cup lead. Schandorff takes advantage of traffic to pass Vermeulen, so it's now advantage McLaren over Aston Martin. They actually made contact earlier in the lap with a slight touch at La Source.

≠≠ Intra-Ferrari action as Fuoco (in the #50) closes up to Rovera (in the #51). The former has been much quicker over the past few laps. If we ran green until the very end – which is unlikely – the #50 would be in a very strong position.

≠≠ The Gold Cup leaders have just stopped together and it's as you were, the #33 Aston Martin leading the #58 McLaren. Driver changes for both with Vermeulen and Schandorff now at the wheel.

≠≠ Approaching the 19-hour mark. The Gold Cup leaders have been glued together for some time now, the #33 Aston Martin leading the #58 McLaren driven by Chris Lulham and Dean MacDonald respectively. They currently run seventh and eighth overall.

≠≠ Actually, there were two winners from that short FCY. The #63 Lamborghini and the #98 BMW both stopped just before the neutralisation was called, so they have gained time. Bortolotti is now 20 seconds to the good over Marciello in the #98.

≠≠ Okay, that was a short FCY. It should have no impact on the race. The leaders have now stopped.

≠≠ FCY, the #93 Ferrari has stopped on the way to Pouhon. Let's see how this plays out. 10:50 local, 5h30 to go.

≠≠ There's a cracking battle going for the Bronze Cup lead. The #81 Mercedes-AMG of Daan Arrow has been holding off Dennis Marschall in the #74 Ferrari for what seems like an eternity. There's currently half a second in it, as there has been for roughly an hour.

≠≠ We begin the final quarter of this race. These are your leaders, but the #96 Porsche is a touch misleading – that car will stop in about five minutes and hand the advantage to the #63 Lamborghini, which is in the box seat as it stands.
