Optimum Motorsport has confirmed its driver line-up for the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.
The British squad's #5 McLaren will compete in the Gold Cup class with an all-new line-up; indeed, the trio of Mikey Porter, Largim Ali and James Allen will all make their series debuts when the campaign begins this weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Porter steps up from British GT, where he was GT4 Silver class champion in 2024 alongside Jamie Day. He has experience of both the team and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo having raced in this year's 24h of Dubai with Optimum. Still only 17, he is set to be the youngest driver on the grid this year.
Ali has also enjoyed success elsewhere in the world of GT racing. The Danish driver spent 2023 and 2024 competing in Lamborghini Super Trofeo, finishing as runner-up in the highly competitive Pro standings last year.
Allen brings the most high-level sports car experience, though he is a GT3 newcomer having spent the past eight seasons racing LMP2 machinery. However his pedigree is obvious: the Australian won the ELMS LMP2 title in 2023 and has secured class wins in the 24-hour races at Le Mans and Daytona.
Optimum Motorsport will be part of a 59-car field when the 2025 GT World Challenge season launches this weekend with a six-hour race in the south of France.
