Team WRT has revealed its 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS plans ahead of next week's Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard (10/11 March)
The most successful outfit in series history added to its trophy haul last season by winning the Overall and Sprint Cup teams' titles, as well as both Sprint titles in the Silver class.
It retains a strong presence this term, with two full-season cars competing under its own name as well as a satellite programme competing as AlManar Racing by Team WRT. The flagship #32 BMW will remain a Pro entry, while the #30 will compete in the Silver Cup and the #777 AlManar machine is a Gold Cup contender.
Three-time Sprint champion Charles Weerts continues aboard the #32 BMW. He will be rejoined by Kelvin van der Linde, who previously raced for the team between 2020 and 2022, for the full 10-round campaign. They will be accompanied at Endurance Cup rounds by newly-minted BMW works Ugo De Wilde.
The Silver Cup entry will see Gilles Stadsbader and Gustav Bergström run the full season, with Etienne Cheli added at Endurance rounds. Stadsbader made a strong impression during limited outings with Saintéloc Racing last term, while Bergström will make his series debut having cut his teeth in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. Cheli is also set to join the grid for the first time and comes with an impressive resumé, which includes winning the FFSA GT Silver Cup title in 2023.
Finally, the AlManar Racing by WRT entry will be anchored by Al Faisal Al Zubair and Jens Klingmann, with Ben Tuck joining for Endurance Cup events. Zubair has been a staple of the AlManar project, while Klingmann is a long-time BMW factory driver who led Team WRT to its historic victory at Monza last term. Tuck switches from the Kessel Racing Ferrari squad, where he displayed impressive speed in 2024.
“We have been present in SRO’s top European series since its inception and the creation of our team back in 2011, and we continue to do so with great enthusiasm and pleasure," said team principal Vincent Vosse. "We have also enjoyed immense success in this series, last year adding four more titles and the ‘Pit Stop Challenge’ to an already long list of trophies. We are determined to continue on this path, although the challenge is greater every year, given that the level of competition of the series keeps growing every time.
"Having made tremendous progress with the BMW M4 GT3 and having in place perfect cooperation with BMW M Motorsport gives us a lot of confidence. For 2025, our driver line-ups have undergone significant changes, as we have rationalised our resources according to the different programmes we are involved in, but I am happy to announce line-ups that will be very strong in their respective classes, and proud once again, to give our trust to some of the most talented young drivers around.”
The 2025 campaign will officially launch with next week's Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard. The same venue will host the season-opening Endurance Cup race on 11–13 April, while the Sprint schedule begins at Brands Hatch on 3/4 May.
