Christopher Haase put the #88 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi on top in this afternoon's Pre-Qualifying at Misano.
Running for one hour, Pre-Qualifying is in effect an extra practice session, though it can also be used to decide the grid should the main Qualifying be cancelled.
Haase went quickest during the final minutes, posting a 1m32.492s to beat Charles Weerts (#32 Team WRT BMW) to top spot by 0.095s. This was the second time that the Belgian squad had finished P2 on Friday, Dries Vanthoor having taken the same position in this morning's Free Practice.
The man who beat him on that occasion – Dinamic GT's Marvin Dienst – was third in Pre-Qualifying. The #54 Porsche was 0.131s off the overall benchmark and once again the best of the Bronze Cup contingent. Tom Gamble was fourth overall in the #159 Garage 59 McLaren, followed by Ricardo Feller in the #99 Tresor Attempto Audi.
Calan Williams was the fastest Silver Cup driver in eighth overall. The Australian was just 0.261s off the overall best in the #30 Team WRT BMW, which looks to be an extremely strong package at Misano. Gilles Magnus again topped the Gold Cup in the #25 Saintéloc Racing Audi, though his overall position slipped from fourth to 17th. A total of 34 cars participated in the session, the #71 AF Corse Ferrari remaining absent after an accident in Free Practice.
The Fanatec GT Europe field will be back on-track for Qualifying, which takes place under the lights at 21:10 and signals the start of live streaming on GT World. The main action all takes place tomorrow: Race 1 gets underway at 14:00, followed by Race 2 at 21:00. The latter is set to be the first Sprint Cup contest staged in darkness since 2021.
