Adam Eteki put Boutsen Racing on top in this morning's free practice session at Hockenheim, which saw heavy rain drench the German circuit.
The youngster lapped in 1:53.626s at the wheel of the #10 Audi, giving the Gold Cup squad a rare turn the top of the overall order. Second place also went to a class entrant as Pro-Am front-runner Henrique Chaves was 0.498s adrift of Eteki in the #188 Garage 59 McLaren.
Third overall, and the best of the Pro cars, was Jack Aitken in the #63 Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini. He was followed by Nick Catsburg (#98 ROWE Racing BMW), Alessio Picariello (#54 Dinamic Motorsport Porsche) and Dani Juncadella (#88 Akkodis ASP Mercedes-AMG).
The best of the Silver Cup runners was the championship-leading #30 Team WRT Audi, which placed eighth overall with Thomas Neubauer at the wheel. A total of 42 cars set a representative lap from the 49 entered for this weekend's event.
The rain was a major factor throughout, having started roughly an hour before the session and intensifying thereafter. This led to several spins and off-track excursions, though it was not until the final five minutes that a red flag was required after the #33 Team WRT Audi made contact with the barriers.
No sooner had the session been stopped than the rain ceased and the skies cleared, perhaps suggesting dry conditions for this afternoon's Pre-Qualifying at 14:05. As always, the action will air in English, German, French and Italian on the GTWorld YouTube channel.
