Total has renewed its title sponsorship contract for the flagship event of the Blancpain Endurance Series, the Total 24 Hours of Spa. The energy company has been involved in motorsports for decades and has been the title sponsor of the biggest GT race in the world since 2007. However, the cooperation between the energy group and the Total 24 Hours of Spa started a decade earlier, since the Fina brand was a support partner of the Belgian endurance classic between 1992 and 2006.
Paul Mannes (CEO Total Belgium): “We are extremely satisfied with the existing cooperation with SRO Motorsports Group and are very proud to be the title partner for what we consider to be the most important race in the world that is exclusively reserved for GT cars. The reasons behind our involvement are well-known. After all, the Total 24 Hours of Spa is a live testing ground for our products: fuel, additives and lubricants. The fuel that will be used during the Total 24 Hours of Spa has been developed by our R&D department. It not only increases the performance and reliability of the engines, but has also been developed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. To do so our engineers have used additives that are also used in our Excellium range, which is available in our shops and service stations. It’s further evidence that our involvement in racing always serves as a test bed for production cars.”
Stephane Ratel (CEO and Founder of SRO Motorsports Group): “Our partnership with Total is one of the longest partnerships in the existence of the SRO Motorsports Group and we are very happy to continue our cooperation. The involvement of Total in the Total 24 Hours of Spa has certainly helped to give the event the status it enjoys now, as being the most important race that is exclusively reserved for GT cars.”
