Emil Frey Racing will expand to three cars this season as the Lamborghini outfit once again embarks on a full Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS campaign.
The Swiss squad returned to the series last season with a pair of Huracan GT3s and produced a number of standout results, including two overall victories in the Sprint Cup.
The experienced Norbert Siedler and Lamborghini factory driver Albert Costa will contest the full season in the #163 machine, with both men entering their sixth season as part of the Emil Frey setup. Lamborghini factory driver Giacomo Altoè will complete the #163 crew at Endurance Cup events.
The #14 Lamborghini will run for Silver Cup honours this term with an all-Swiss line-up. Ricardo Feller expands to a full season after contesting the Endurance Cup last term, while Alex Fontana rejoins the squad with which he captured the 2018 class title. The #14 crew will be completed at long-distance events by the vastly experienced Rolf Ineichen, who returns to Lamborghini equipment after competing aboard an Audi last term.
The newest member of the Emil Frey squad will be the #114 Lamborghini, which will run a full-season Pro line-up led by Williams Formula 1 reserve Jack Aitken. The Anglo-Korean is joined by 19-year old rising star Konsta Lappalainen, who won the SMP F4 title in 2018. The young crew will be completed by Arthur Rougier, who showed an impressive turn of speed in last season's Sprint Cup while representing Audi squad Sainteloc Racing.
"The past few weeks have been very busy but I’m excited about entering the coming season with two Pro line-ups and one Silver line-up," said the squad's technical director Jürg Flach. "We have a strong team consisting of our long-term drivers, our new talents in the #14 and the #114 and lastly, our skilled engineers and mechanics. I’m convinced that we’re ready as a team and ready for a challenging season."
Team principal Lorenz Frey-Hilti added: "I’m very excited and optimistic about the continuation and strengthening of our [Lamborghini Squadra Corse] partnership by adding a third car. The level of expertise is extremely high, especially in this premier class of GT3. Winning is just a matter of seconds. This is why we greatly value the professional and active exchange with Lamborghini Squadra Corse."
The 2021 season will officially launch with two days of testing at Circuit Paul Ricard (25/26 March), followed by the opening race at Monza on 16-18 April. The campaign will be staged over 10 events, with the marquee Total 24 Hours of Spa set to run over the weekend of 31 July/1 August.
