Two days of official testing are now underway at Spa-Francorchamps as teams and drivers prepare to tackle this year's Total 24 Hours of Spa.
The entry list for the test features 50 cars, 47 of which were on-track this morning. The #66 Audi Sport Team Attempto crew emerged fastest in wet conditions, posting a best lap of 2m35.112s around the 7km circuit. The session ran without incident until a red flag was shown with just three minutes remaining, which brought an early end to the morning segment.
The start of testing saw Audi Sport confirm its teams and drivers for this year's race. The German marque, which has clinched four overall victories during the past decade, will spread its factory drivers across three teams at this year's event. The full story can be read here.
During the lunch break, Boutsen Ginion Racing officially launched its BMW 'art car', which will contest this year's race in the Pro-Am class. The livery was designed by New York artist Peter Halley and was unveiled at Raidillon.
This morning's session began 18 hours of running. Track activity will resume at 13:00 and continue uninterrupted until 22:00, with the final four hours acting as a night session in preparation for added after-dark competition at this year's race. Wednesday's schedule runs from 10:00 until 12:00 and then from 13:00 through to the final chequered flag at 18:00. Due to ongoing COVID-19 health regulations, the test is being staged behind closed doors.
