GPX Racing enters its second season of GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS competition having already conquered the championship's marquee event.
Led by founder Frédéric Fatien, team principal Pierre-Brice Mena and team manager David Simon, the squad took outright honours at the 2019 Total 24 Hours of Spa, returning Porsche to the top step of the podium for the first time in almost a decade.
GPX Racing was formed in early 2015 as the competitive offshoot of GP Extreme, a Dubai-based company that is active in several areas of motor racing. After competing extensively in the Middle East the team entered the Endurance Cup for the first time in 2019, fielding a single Silver Cup car in four of the five Endurance rounds.
The exception would be Spa, where GPX deployed a full-factory line-up of Kevin Estre, Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen in its 911 GT3. The crew delivered a faultless performance, mastering challenging weather conditions to capture a famous overall win for GPX and Porsche.
That result has led to a bolstered 2020 programme. GPX has expanded to a two-car effort in the Endurance Cup, with both cars featuring Porsche factory talent. Indeed, the team has every hope of moutning a title challenge and defending its Spa victory this year.
