The Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup finale began in earnest this afternoon, with the Bronze Test representing the first official session at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The hour-long run gave all bronze-graded drivers a chance to familiarise themselves with the Spanish venue ahead of this weekend's race. The #29 Raton Racing by Target Lamborghini topped the times, with Christoph Lenz recording a 1m46.643s lap. Next up was the #33 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari of Steve Parrow with a 1m47.060s, followed by the #77 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini driven by Leo Machitski.
A number of Blancpain GT Sports Club cars also participated in the session in preparation for their season finale. This contingent included the new Audi R8 LMS GT2, which is contesting this weekend's event in preparation for a full-season programme in 2020. The car is being operated by Blancpain GT Series outfit Audi Sport Team WRT.
There will be further track activity on Saturday, with a 90-minute free practice session bringing the full field on to the track for the first time at 10.20. Later in the day, pre-qualifying will give drivers another 90 minutes of running from 15.05 ahead of a busy Sunday at the Spanish circuit. This will begin with qualifying at 09.30, which will set the grid for the afternoon's season-deciding race at 15.00. Multiple titles are on the line, inclduding the coveted overall championships for drivers and teams, as well as Endurance Cup honours.
From qualifying onwards, all of the action will be streamed live on the Blancpain GT Series website and social media channels.
