The #87 AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG led the way in the opening practice session for this weekend’s Blancpain GT Series round at the Hungaroring.
French ace Nicolas Jamin was behind the wheel of the #87 machine for its pace-setting lap of 1m43.939s, which put the youngster 0.431s clear of the next best contender.
The sister #90 car was second fastest thanks to German racer Nico Bastian, whose 1m44.370s lap came in the dying moments of the 80-minute session.
Jamin and Bastain are both competing in the Silver Cup category this weekend, while P3 belonged to a Pro-Am class runner. Markus Winkelhock took the position in the #26 Sainteloc-Audi that he shares with Nyls Stievenart.
The #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT machine was fourth fastest thanks to Chris Mies. The championship-leading crew can seal the title this weekend and started as they mean to go on by lapping quicker than all of their direct rivals in practice.
A further two AKKA cars completed the top-six, with the #751 (competing as Sun Energy 1 Racing) and the #35 (SMP Racing by AKKA ASP) confirming the French squad's pace.
The #2 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT entry of Dries Vanthoor and Will Stevens hit problems during the session, completing only three laps and ending FP1 slowest of all.
Practice 2 begins at 15.40 CET.
